OUR BACKGROUND: Eccentric and passionate recording artist-vocalist-musician-entertainer-band leader Bobby J, founded and organized the Stuff Like That Cover and Dance Band (named in honor of the master of musical hybrids, Quincy Jones) with the intent purpose of gratifying audiences with musical pleasure. Having personally earned the title “balladeer” because of his ability to swoon audiences, he focused on saturating the industry with high-energy and charismatic musical performances, that old school way. Since 1990, we have captivated audiences with prolific and energetic performances. Bobby J leads and is featured on vocals. Giving consideration to the targeted audience, our artistic leader orchestrates our shows. He adds dimension by personalizing each show and freely interchanging staff to achieve that perfect end. He's assisted by 1x1 in the background. Our key music staff* includes Takashi on lead guitar, Tim on bass guitar, Jevon and Chris on keyboards, and Darryl on drums. In the background, there's Lisa, Chanell and Tara.
OUR MUSIC: Emulating cover songs from 1950 to today's top 40 may be what we do, but it's not quite who we are. We are a musical expression. We become the music that we perform. We cease every opportunity to jam by choosing songs that others dare to perform. Two key elements that perpetuate our commanding performances are spontaneity and innovativeness. From commencement to conclusion, we generate a magnetic response to 'soul' school music, that brings motion to any dance floor. Audiences rave about the versatility. Once the curtain rises, ain't no stopping this rare combination of talent and charisma. OUR RECORDINGS: We are currently working on a collaboration of old school favorites, adding a few originals, simply entitled "Journey". It's been a long time coming, but its expected release is mid 2012. OUR LIVE PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE: We have experienced entertaining for and with the best. We were the opening or closing act to Gladys Knight, Billy Preston, Larry Graham, Kool and the Gang, Usher, Ashford and Simpson, The Pointer Sisters, Pieces of a Dream, and New Orleans own Aaron Neville and the Neville Brothers and Irma Thomas..to name a few. We have provided entertainment for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, BET Network, NOBLE, the Leukemia Foundation, The Louisiana Breast Cancer Task Force, Multiple Sclerosis Society of LA, Bridge House of New Orleans, the New Orleans Museum of Art, Crimestoppers, WWL 870 AM Radio Station, the Bayou Classic's Gala with Tom Joyner, and more. Our entertainment, though based in New Orleans, LA, is not limited to this region. We have performed at venues like the Avenue Park Hotel in Toronto, Canada; the SanDestin Resort Hilton Hotel and the Jackson Hole Ski Resort. *Any agreement to perform shall be excused by detention of personnel by riots, strikes, epidemics, acts of God (Force Majeure) or any other legitimate condition or negligence beyond Artist’s control. Members of Stuff Like That Band, etal, may be substituted at management's discretion. |
